  • Improbable Fiction: A New Works Series
    • A limited number of paid positions may be available
    • Audition information will be released in February/March 2024
    • Rehearsals: virtual workshops in spring (schedule TBD); in-person rehearsals July 16-19 with a tech rehearsal on July 23
    • Performance: July 24, 2024
  • Merely Players
    • Specifically for ages 15-22
    • PAID positions (nominal stipend)

Outside of production elements, our Improbable Fiction: New Works series engages playwrights and volunteer readers/adjudicators. These positions have been filled for the Summer 2024 season


  • Summer school teachers (FILLED) & assistant teachers
    • PAID positions
    • DPI certification is required for teachers, not for assistants
    • School district programming
      • Weekdays June 10-July 26
      • Weeklong (five-day) programs that run either 9:00-11:30 AM or 1:00-3:30 PM
      • Classes are grouped by grade level:
        • Entering Grades 3-5
        • Entering Grades 5-8
        • Entering Grades 7-12
      • Topics rotate but include:
        • Theatre/acting/improv
        • Visual and performing arts
        • Playwriting/creative writing
        • Fairy tale theatre
        • Shakespeare-centric classes for kids
  • Outreach educators
    • PAID positions
    • Teaching abbreviated versions of our school district classes in surrounding communities
    • Single-day events - teach 2-3 classes per day for different age groups
  • Merely Players Artist-Mentors (FILLED)
    • PAID position(s)
    • Artist-Mentor(s) will guide the Merely Players performance troupe, coordinating meetings, facilitating needs, and mentoring participants.


Every year, our Festival staff are supported by an incredible team of arts administration interns. Many of these students can join us from our partnership with UW-Eau Claire’s Department of Music & Theatre Arts and their Arts Administration certificate program, but internship opportunities are available to all. Internships are typically available in:

  • Marketing
  • Development & Fundraising
  • Outreach, education & engagement
