Using Sumi painting practices, Sapira Cheuk describes her artistic technique as “Paper is the space that the ink, a stand in for the body, occupies. The smooth gradation and abrupt fractures that exist simultaneously in each figure represents my experiences as an immigrant, negotiating two different cultures, values, and operating systems.”
