CVSO: Brahms in Spring

May 6, 2022 | RCU Theatre

The centerpiece for this concert is Piano Concerto No. 2 by Johannes Brahms, featuring Pianist Kenny Broberg, silver medalist in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and bronze medalist in the 2019 International Tchaikovsky Competition. The concert will open with Tchaidovsky’s Marche Slave and Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture. Sponsor: Mel & Leann Breed.

American pianist Kenny Broberg continues to build a reputation as “one of the most intelligent and intense artists on the concert stage today” (Theater Jones). His fresh interpretations are complemented by a natural, honest stage presence. The Minneapolis native first came to international attention when he captured the silver medal at the 2017 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition; he followed this with a bronze medal win at the 2019 International Tchaikovsky Competition, adding to numerous competition prizes.

Full Program:
